L enluminure nous en a transmis de beaux témoignages.<br>   Cette technique se transmettait par tradition orale, de mère en fille. Mais pour nous, en Europe occidentale contemporaine, point de nécessité à ce sujet, et donc, point de transmission orale. Toutefois, cette technique a perduré dans les milieux ruraux d Amérique du Sud et d Asie et est encore pratiquée de nos jours. Elle remonterait à l âge du bronze (- 4000 a.v. JC ; - 800 a.v. JC ) et est attestée depuis environ 1000 a.v. J.C., en Egypte.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp; En Europe, les plus anciens fragments de tissage à tablettes datent de l âge de Bronze.
